My name is Heeral and I am a Certified RDI Consultant. I am a parent to 2 boys on the Autism Spectrum that we have self-guided and homeschooled for the last 11 years.
We started RDI for our boys when they were 4 and 6 years old. Prior to starting RDI, life with 2 little kids on the spectrum was a struggle. My 6 year old was an extremely rigid and anxious child and my 4 year old was a verbal stimmer who would constantly blabber and throw things around the house. We were surviving from one day to another and I felt lost on how to make a difference in our child's life when they would not even sit down with us.
Then started our RDI journey where our wonderful consultant, Kathy Darrow, taught us how to engage our kids and work with them. Powered with RDI tools, we had renewed hope for the future of our kids. We decided to homeschool them and give them the freedom and flexibility to grow their brains and become dynamic thinkers.
With God's grace, RDI parenting techniques, power of Fruit Detox and Homeschooling our kids are growing up to be happy, thoughtful, and caring children who know how to laugh, learn and enjoy each day to its fullest.
I believe your child's Autism should not define who you are. You can cherish, love, and enjoy your child as it was always meant to be.

Typical infants establish a Guided Relationship with their parents in the first 6 months of life. They accept their parents as their Guide and thereafter learn all skills by following them and learning from them. This is nature's way of growing and expanding a child's brain.
The lack of imitation skills in a child with Autism and his refusal to accept his parents as a Guide leads to the parents feeling helpless and frustrated. In their desperation to connect with their child and teach them, parents resort to becoming extremely directive (do this, do that...) or start overcompensating.
The child views this over directive and overcompensating behavior in conflict with his own desires and starts to shut down, stim, or resorts to Fright and Flight. Many kids resort to becoming extremely passive and over imitative.
This is called the Breakdown of the Guided Relationship.
Using everyday activities as a backdrop, RDI helps parents restore their Guided Relationship with their kids on the spectrum and helps re-establish the connection as nature originally intended.
Through techniques like slowing down and using Declarative Language, RDI teaches parents how to build their child's brain instead of just teaching them static skills in an over directed or overcompensated manner.
Your child on the spectrum has a real chance in this world by acquiring dynamic thinking skills so critically needed in dynamically changing social and work environments.
