Using RDI Techniques

My name is Heeral Sharma, and I am a Certified RDI® Consultant. I have been supporting families since 2021, bringing together professional RDI training, consulting experience, lived experience as a parent, and a creative teaching background to help children and families grow through connection, curiosity, and everyday guided moments.
My work is rooted in helping parents slow down, notice more deeply, and create meaningful opportunities for their children to think, engage, problem-solve, and reflect. Rather than focusing only on behavior management, I support families in building the underlying developmental foundations children need for flexibility, self-awareness, emotional growth, and real-life independence.
I also bring extensive firsthand experience with homeschooling, which gives me a deep understanding of how children learn outside traditional classroom structures. I help parents see themselves as powerful guides in daily life, creating learning experiences that are flexible, relationship-based, and responsive to each child’s developmental needs, interests, and pace.
As the founder of Wonder Loop™, I created a simple thinking framework — Pause, Look, Wonder, Act, and Reflect. Rooted in RDI® principles of slowing down, using minimal language, and creating space for thinking, it gently guides children to engage in each activity mindfully, building strong episodic memories of competence. Wonder Loop™ grew from my consulting work with neurodivergent children and families, with the goal of making complex developmental ideas more accessible, playful, and practical.
I am also the author of the Wonder Loop™ children’s book series, available on Amazon. Through stories, games, visual tools, and parent-guided activities, my books introduce children to flexible thinking, problem-solving, perspective taking, and reflection in a warm and engaging way.
In my consulting work, I partner with parents to move beyond simply managing the hard moments and toward building calmer, more connected relationships. My goal is to help families support children in becoming thoughtful, resilient, and active participants in their own lives.
I'm a resident of California and accept SDP as payment for my services. I'm already vendored with a few FMS providers in the Bay Area. Get in touch to learn more.
RDI®, or Relationship Development Intervention, is a parent-guided developmental approach that helps children build the thinking, emotional, and relationship skills they need for everyday life.
Rather than focusing only on managing behaviors, RDI looks at the deeper developmental foundations underneath behavior. It helps parents understand how their child thinks, responds, connects, problem-solves, handles change, and makes sense of the world.
At the heart of RDI is the parent-child relationship. Parents are supported in becoming confident guides for their child, using ordinary daily moments as opportunities for growth. These moments may include cooking together, cleaning up, taking a walk, playing a game, solving a small problem, or simply pausing to notice something together.
Through RDI, children are gently supported in developing important skills such as:
1. Building curiosity and intrinsic motivation
2. Thinking flexibly
3. Managing uncertainty and change
4. Noticing others and sharing experiences
5. Solving problems
6. Reflecting on choices
7. Building emotional awareness
8. Participating more meaningfully in life
RDI is not about forcing a child to perform, comply, or “look typical.” It is about helping each child grow from the inside out, at a pace that respects their nervous system, developmental needs, and unique way of experiencing the world.
For many families, RDI offers a hopeful shift: instead of feeling stuck in constant correction or crisis management, parents begin to see themselves as powerful guides who can create small, meaningful moments of connection and growth every day.
The goal of RDI is to help children become more thoughtful, flexible, resilient, and engaged participants in their own lives.
